Materials Stories
This Project was part of my 2nd year at Kingston University, researching the amount of embodied carbon within chosen materials. The first task of this project was to pick 5 restaurants of our choice, all with very different material palettes and analyse what was most effective about each palette. From this we began creating 5 material palettes, from this we planned a small restaurant space and used the chosen materials to create our spaces, these materials were then used later on to work out the embodied carbon of each element. This project opened my eyes as a designer, as it is important to realise that my designs have an impact on the earth, so by choosing materials with less embodied carbon, with less transportation times and lower production power, the overall impact caused by the construction and building will be reduced. This project enhanced my passion for Adaptive Reuse of materials.
